World Series Game 7 Attracts 51 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The exciting extra-inning matchup where the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a total over 50 million viewers across the US, Canadian, and Japan territories. MLB reported this is the most-watched World Series finale after the 1991 edition contest featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable game secured 27.33 million viewers on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic matchup after the 2017 Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This marks a 16% increase compared to the last Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed fourth, the fourth game was 7th, the fifth game was 8th, and the third game finished in thirteenth place.

Global Audience Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded 11.6 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English-language program in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding contest began at 9 PM local time, it averaged 12 million. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – recorded 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-game series averaged over 15.7 million viewers on the Fox network, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership growth for two straight seasons.

Counting the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the total US viewership was over 16 million. The total Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09M viewers, an 8% increase compared to last year and Fox’s strongest postseason ratings after 2017.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 different languages.
